Kindred stands out as a long-term acute care hospital in the market to offer CRRT, which is ideal for critical patients, along with multiple dialysis options

HOUSTON (May 14, 2024) – Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center, which specializes in offering long-term acute care and rehabilitation to medically complex patients, has expanded its renal care services with the addition of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), an innovative therapy that is considered ideal for patients in critical condition.

Located at 6441 Main St. within the Texas Medical Center, Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center stands out in the market as a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) to offer CRRT.

Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, also sometimes referred to as Continuous Hemofiltration, “represents a significant advancement in renal care, and we are proud and excited to offer it on-site for our patients who require renal replacement therapy while recovering from severe illness or injury,” said Laura Rodriguez, Chief Clinical Officer/Chief Operation Officer for Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center. “CRRT’s continuous nature and less strenuous approach make it an ideal option for critical patients, ensuring they receive the continuous detoxification needed for optimal recovery.”

CRRT is the newest addition in renal care services at Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center, which also offers Peritoneal Dialysis and Hemodialysis, including Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis (SLED). Kindred Hospital’s physician-led interdisciplinary care teams are well-equipped to determine the best course of therapy for critically ill patients with renal conditions.

“Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center is dedicated to providing compassionate and innovative care for our patients,” Rodriguez said. “With our expanded renal replacement therapy options, we aim to empower individuals with renal conditions to lead healthier lives.”
